In a few words state who you are, your occupation and what it is that you create.

I am Michelle, a graphic designer, illustrator, a creative mind.

Describe what you see when you look out your window.

My balcony lights flickering. They’re my pretend light bugs.

What is a podcast, book, or song that is keeping you sane?

Music always gets me out of my head. A couple songs from Queen usually lifts me up and brings me all the good feels. These are always dancing inducing:

Break Free

Don’t Stop Me Now

Fat Bottomed Girls

What is a word that makes you laugh?

Pianist

What is the color of your current mood?

Mellow Yellow

What is something that brings you joy?

My pets, the rising and setting sun, home cooking...oh and ROLLERCOASTERS

COVID-19 aside, what frustrates you?

Cubicles. WHO INVENTED THOSE THINGS.

What do you feel most hopeful about?
Summer. The blossoming trees and flowers give me feelings of a new chapter for us all.

How do you define your creative process - what makes you tick, what is your practice?

I can’t be without a black pen, markers, and piece of paper. I don’t have a dedicated sketchbook. I have many. Whatever I can get my hands on to doodle and free my brain of the cluttered thoughts. It makes the ideas a lot clearer and less intimidating to bring them to life on the computer screen.

What is something challenging you’ve accomplished as a creator?

My biggest creative challenge thus far has been creating large scale lenticular imagery. It was so fun creating these playful pieces of art, and even more gratifying to witness people interact with them. Would love to make more!

Name an artist or creator you draw influence from?

Barbara Kruger

How has COVID-19 affected you? Have you changed your process during quarantine?

I used to hate the constant 9-5 routine, but now that that’s out the window, I’ve had (and I think we all have) had to hold ourselves accountable to get up early, set daily goals, no matter how small. I’ve pushed myself to draw more than ever having not be attached at a desk and computer.

In your opinion what do you think the “new normal” should look like for our global society?
I don’t think anyone knows.

What do you look forward to most once quarantine restrictions are lessened?
Hugs!

In closing, describe or reflect on an aspect of nature that inspires you.

Trees and plants in general. Always in awe how mother nature knows when it’s time to start anew.
