Mark Williams

In a few words state who you are, your occupation and what it is that you create.

My name is Mark Williams and I am a photographer. I love capture realism, almost exactly what you would expect to see in real life.

Describe what you see when you look out your window.

I see what the actual subject would see in a very neutral manner. Just as you would in a real interaction with them.

What is a podcast, book, or song that is keeping you sane?

Song of choice would be a smooth easy calming one.

What is a word that makes you laugh?

What is the color of your current mood?

What is something that brings you joy?

My lovely children

COVID-19 aside, what frustrates you?

What do you feel most hopeful about?

I'm very easy going and generally neutral. I am more than happy to give a hand to help.

How do you define your creative process - what makes you tick, what is your practice?

realism, to get as close to real thing as I can. I love to capture the real unposed, uncharacteristic emotions that speak different ways.

What is something challenging you’ve accomplished as a creator?

Winning a solo exhibition award from CEPA. This was my first time ever joining and applying for any art competition as you could say.

Name an artist or creator you draw influence from?

Rineke Dijkstra

How has COVID-19 affected you? Have you changed your process during quarantine?

I have actually acquired a little different approach. I’ve been really digging double exposure with old Polaroid film in a Hasselblad.

In your opinion what do you think the “new normal” should look like for our global society?

There isn’t a new normal, id phrase it as a rustic comeback because certain things are brought back from the past but modified for the future.

What do you look forward to most once quarantine restrictions are lessened?

In closing, describe or reflect on an aspect of nature that inspires you.

Nature as a whole inspires me. I love the innocence of nature and its respect for every creature, object and living micro organism involved. Nature is kind, loving, mean, hateful and very generous to everything and everyone from far and close.
