Artist Alexis Oltmer (b.1990) has spent 3 years creating For Future Generations : A plastic pollution study of Lake Erie, an environmental and conceptual body of artwork which elevates plastic pollution imagery, data & samples collected over 40 individual beach cleanups.

For Future Generations began in December 2016 after Ol...

Today I went to the beach for the first time this month. It was a rainy and smug day, yet I enjoyed my time there. I ended up with 5 large bags of trash collected and per usual one small bag to bring back to the studio ( today there was a lot of blue plastic pieces which caught my eye ).

We began cleaning at 9am after some doughnuts and coffee brought by our sponsor @IGersbuffalo. We had supporters both young & old from the Climate Strike join the cleanup. The beach cleanup on 06.08.19 sponsored by The Current Issues Activists of Iroquois HS was a major success. The students were enthusiastic, informed,  passionate, and energetic. If you aren't familiar, For Future Generations is a series where over the course of one year I have visited the same beach religiously to document and clean up every piece of plastic I h...

The Impeachment Rally was held in Lafayette SQ , Buffalo NY. It was one of the smaller gathering in recent months, yet I saw many new faces in the crowd. One of the most empowering aspects of the rallies in Buffalo is that the young and the old show up, people of all aspects and backgrounds stop by and join in.

Plastic Pollution is a serious problem which needs some serious thought and dilligence from our generation. We need to be mindful of all aspects of plastic pollution, including our own consumption and recycling, yet also I think we need to hold the companies accountable which manufacture the products I find every time I clean.

Science is extremely important as a staple of our modern society. We need to understand and respect the amount of research and time which goes into the development of ideas, the making of mistakes, discovering unknowns, and solving/concluding theories. Current News stations discourse have been over run with jargon containing the term "alternative facts" ( I fucking dislike the term alt facts with a passion ) . With t...
